About SPM

Membership to the future

The technological development is incredibly fast, and it takes a lot of resources to keep up. SPM helps your business to take advantage of opportunities, as you do not need to reinvent the wheel every time. As a participant in one of our networks, you can access the experience already gained, and make your own experience benefit others. Approx. 60 companies have done this, as members of the SPM association.

Joint efforts

Participation in SPM creates a strong and essential foundation for the efforts of companies to be competitive, to ensure market access, and to ensure product safety, so that product liability cases are avoided as much as possible. Through the joint efforts, companies can get even more out of scarce resources for research and development. SPM is an association of electronics companies, suppliers of materials and components for the electronics, and for the many businesses that use electronics in their products.

A membership of SPM is a membership to the future.

This is how SPM works

SPM was founded 1 January 1967 with the aim to work for promoting the industry’s need for reliability and environmental engineering research and to ensure that a knowledge center like DELTA acts as an effective information, advice and testing center.

SPM has about 60 members. The subscription consists of two parts:

  • A fixed yearly subscription of DKK 8,000 excl. VAT
  • A yearly amount per experience group of DKK 1,000 excl. VAT.

SPM’s activities aim to bring all member companies new knowledge and experience. The activities are initiated by members and organized in such a way that everyone has influence through the selected contact person in each company.

The SPM association’s main activities are

  • Exchange of experiences in experience groups
  • R&D projects (SPM projects)

Experience exchange groups

The cooperation in the various experience exchange groups is one of the best ways to keep abreast of developments in a special area. In SPM’s experience exchange groups, each member firm’s specialists meet and exchange experiences within the group theme. The groups have typically 10-25 participants, and meetings are held as needed, typically 3-4 times a year. The SPM association provides secretariat so that the groups’ coordination, invitations, minutes, etc. are effective. In general, participants meet at each other’s locations, i.e. the hosting rotates.

R&D projects

The SPM projects are funded under the fixed subscription, and where possible, supplemented by other means, such as from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education. The association regularly conducts joint projects. The larger projects usually have a broader perspective of interest for the majority of the members. They can also sometimes be part of a broader project, on an international level. In these cases it is possible to increase efforts, such that the project funding is increased with the addition of funds, public or private, so that very demanding tasks can be subject for the implementation of the projects.

Direct member influence

In a number of cases, some among the members need a quick review of a new component, a new supplier or a new technique. Members can, by using the SPM network, quickly take advantage of new opportunities – or avoid problems by introducing innovations that later turns out to have serious disadvantages.

Who should participate?
